Religious pieces

Liam’s early work included many religious pieces which were either commissioned by, or donated to religious organisations. Although Liam’s interpretation of the “Pieta” references the mother-child relationship, it ultimately conveys the experience and emotions associated with the loss of a child.

Already in 1963, Liam’s “Head of Christ” demonstrated a pioneering tendency in sustainable art, through the recycling of the central leg of a pedestal table that had been consigned to scrap.
