Human Forms

Like many classical artists, Liam had an interest in the study of the human form. He was especially interested in the post-natal female body, and as an extension of this, the relationship between mother and child. He used the female or matriarchal figure, to convey strong emotions such as grief or loss, which is especially evident in his interpretation of the Pietà and his commemoration of the Vietnam War, both of which centre on a mother’s despair and devastation through the death of her child.

Female nudes and explorations of the female form, comprise the greater part of Liam’s entire portfolio. Scroll down to see 17 pieces in this category.
